Biography

Connie Britton quickly emerged as one of the most promising actresses in Hollywood, due in large part to the perfect blend of natural talent and striking presence. She won over critics and audiences alike with her impeccable portrayal of a small town high school principal and wife of the football coach in "Friday Night Lights" (NBC/DirecTV, 2006- ), a role where she infused vulnerability and inner strength into her complex character. While the series earned accolades for the entire cast's powerhouse performances, it suffered from low ratings. NBC also had a hard time placing "Friday Night Lights" in regular rotation, which often left fans uncertain about its fate. Prior to her dramatic turn in the critically acclaimed series, the actress had shown comedic flair as a sweet and neurotic office accountant on the politically charged sitcom "Spin City" (ABC, 1996-2002). Britton followed the critical success of "Friday Night Lights" with vastly different material on the surprise hit cable series "American Horror Story" (FX, 2011- ) during its inaugural season before switching gears once again to star as a fading country music queen opposite Hayden Panettiere on the well-received musical melodrama "Nashville" (ABC, 2012- ). After nearly two decades of paying her dues with smaller roles on screens large and small, Britton was at last widely recognized as one of the most talented actresses on television.

"I'm from the South and I've always been fascinated by the complexity and the vibrance of Southern women. They live in a very conventional world, but they're some of the most ballsy women I've ever known." – Britton to Los Angeles magazine, October 2008
