Biography

Dave Batista enjoyed a decade-long career as one of the most powerful and often controversial figures in professional wrestling, claiming numerous championship titles while also earning the enmity of management and fellow grapplers alike, before moving into acting with physical roles in "Riddick" (2013) and "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014). His intimidating build and punishing array of holds, which he employed against such superstars of the wrestling world as John Cena and Triple H, earned him six World Heavyweight Champion titles, as well as three World Tag Team Championships. Out of the ring, Batista proved equally unbridled, taking to task World Wrestling Entertainment brass and fellow athletes for lacking his commitment to the sport. His disappointment with the company allegedly prompted his departure from wrestling in 2010, but a desire to enjoy an acting career like that of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson appeared to have played some role in his move. As in wrestling, Batista rose swiftly up the Hollywood ladder, shuttling from direct-to-video action films to co-starring roles in major features like "The Man with the Iron Fists" (2012) within a few years. Dave Batista's relentless drive and incredible athleticism appeared to serve him as well in acting as it did in the confines of the wrestling ring.
